Field Code Shading not showing

Hello,

I am helping someone in a teaching lab. Some computers in the lab are not
shading field codes even though the View setting "field code shading" is set
to "always".

Is there another setting influencing the field code shading?

There is a shading button on the Forms toolbar [3rd from rihgt] - when
popped out (Off) the shading doesn't display.
