Feedback on ThermalRight T-RAD2 on ASUS EAH4870

I decided to replace my video card cooler yesterday, because the stock
fan on the ASUS was too loud under load.

I baselined the temps of the core and memory, both at idle and under
load (Furmark).

I then swapped off the stock cooler, and put on the Thermalight
hardware. I did not use the tape they provided for the RAM heatsinks;
I peeled that stuff off and used Arctic Silver 5 instead.

I bought 2x92mm fans with the cooler, and screwed them on. These fans
come with an optional resistor that you can stick in the power
circuit, to drop their rpms down to half speed.

Anyway. With the new cooler and the fans running full-bore, idle and
load temps for both core and RAM are about 10 degrees C below those
had with the stock solution. But the fans are certainly audible at
full speed.

So I popped the resistors on, bringing the fans down to half-speed.

Temps are still 5 degrees cooler than stock, both at idle and under
load - and I can't hear the fans.

Hopefully the Arctic Silver is thick enough, and those heatsinks light
enough, that they won't drop off the RAM chips. I'll monitor.

Anyway. I'd call that a success. Now I'll just have to get my Scythe
Orochi CPU cooler installed, and my machine should be nice and cool
and quiet. ;)

They will fall off. Ram chips generally don't run hot, but either put
the tape or the adhesive as5 on them.
