I know that Cookie Detection and Removal and System
Inoculation were took out of Microsoft AntiSpyware.
However, if Microsoft wants to be able to compete against
other free and paid antispyware tools, they should add
features like Inoculation and Cookie Detection that are
already supported by Spybot S&D and Adaware.

Mathieu D.,

How do you know they won't in the later BETA versions or the final
release ? Please share with us your inside information. Thanks.

It has real time scanning which is far superior to
innoculation. Just exactly what do you think the
innoculation does? A far superior host file program, btw,
is SpywareBlaster which even Spybot S&D will tell you, is
superior to their innoculation. Before you complain you
should know what is and isn't the better tool for what you
want.TTFN.

I know that SpywareBlaster offers inoculation. I even
have it installed. However, inoculation detects specific
known spyware threats and prevents their installation.
For instance, SpywareBlaster changes Internet Explorer
settings so that some known threats will not be able to
install (ActiveX blacklist, restricted sites).

Real-time scanning of Microsoft AntiSpyware lets the
program install itself. However, if the spyware tries to
add himself to certain registry locations, AntiSpyware
will warn the user. It will not automatically delete
spyware threats or prevent their installation. However,
real-time scanning will detect dangerous software even if
it doesn't "know" it.

Both ways have their advantages and disadvantages. The
combination of the two would create a foolproof software.

Well, before replying this, you should learn the
differences between inoculation and real-time protection.
Also, no one should need multiple antispyware software.
One should be able to do all the job.

«GIANT AntiSpyware detects and removes cookies from your
computer. Because many Web sites require the use of
cookies to enable a great user experience, Windows
AntiSpyware (Beta) does not remove cookies.»

This is why I say that there will not be cookie detection
and removal in AntiSpyware. This feature was available in
GIANT AntiSpyware. If Microsoft «wanted to add this in
later builds», why would they have removed the feature
from the first beta?
