FDD problem in windows 2000

i have just found a problem with my FDD in win2000 each
time i click on the FDD it comes up with disk has not been
fomatted do u want to format it now. i have tried 5
diffrent floppy disks and all have said the same message i
then changed the FDD still the same then i tried a diffrent
FDD cable and still the same problem i also tried to start
the computer up on a start up disk and it worked perfectly
so i assume that the problem is within windows and im
hoping someone can help me out with how to rectify the
problem or a patch to install or smothing that will fix
this annoying problem.

If you format a new floppy, can it then be read? It could be that the five
floppies you tried are ALL damaged.
