Faxing

I have found out that I can not use my fax software the
way it is designed because XP does not support
distinctive ring. Refer to artical #272943. I need your
help in achieving distinctive ring capabilities. The
article states I need to purchase third party software.
What software is available? I also notice that there are
a few telephone providers installed on my computer. What
telephone provider do I need to use for distinctive ring.
I do not use my telephone modem for internet access, I
have a cable modem for that. Thank you in advance.

What is your modem connection? Is it broadband or dial up? Do you want to
automatically receive as well as send faxes? What fax software do you have?

I have BVRP fax tools and I use a dial up modem for
faxing. I would like to be able to leave my fax software
on and receive faxes on my second phone number only. This
phone line rings with a distinctive ring. My main number
goes to voicemail when I am absent. Without distinctive
ring capabilities with my modem, my fax picks up whenever
the phone rings on either number. If I have the fax tools
off, I miss faxes. In short, I have two numbers that
belong to the same phone line and distinctive ring
features in a modem will seperate that and allow me to
leave the fax software on and not pick up incoming calls
on my main number.
