I am running Windows XP Pro. How do I send faxes? I click on the printers/fax
and when I go to the add/delete all I find there is fax tools. Did something
not load when XP was loaded? How can I fax? I have a all-in-one
copy/printer/scanner and I am on DSL. Please e-mail with
solution([email protected]) thank you

Unlike most dial-up modems, a DSL modem is not capable
of connecting to fax machines, so you cannot send or receive faxes
directly.
In order to send and receives faxes, you'll need a conventional fax modem
with a live telephone line attached. You cannot use broadband unless you
use a web-base fax service, such as eFax:
http://www2.efax.com/efax/twa/page/homePage

Or consider purchasing a regular fax machine and connect it to your phone
line.

Fax is an optional item: click on Add / Remove Programs
Click on Add Remove Windows Components
Click on Fax [should be the second on the list]
Follow the prompts
Make sure that you also have a stand alone [external or internal] modem.
The PC cannot use the all-in-one as its modem.

You missed the point. The OP already thinks they /have/ a modem because they
have DSL. Adding the fax service won't do them any good unless they either
add a standard analogue modem or - better yet - purchase a proper fax
machine and take the PC out of the equation altogether.

Thanks for the info. I do have a regular modem so can I still do the fax thru
it? How. thanks

If you have a regular FAXmodem, whether internal or external, or whether a
"softmodem" (which I use here) or one that has its own processing, you
should be able to FAX. See the XP help file for set up, and instructions
on how to install the FAX service, via Control Panel|ADD/REMOVE
PROGRAMS|ADD/REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS.
