Failed fax (software) transmission

Having tried to fax a contact, I had much trouble trying to fax him.
..Eventually and after much frustration, the fax did eventually transmit
(send.)

To add more detail. I am using the Windows Fax feature (under printers and
Faxes.) Under normal circumstances, I would get a sort of clicking noise
telling me that the fax is sending from my word processing software..

In case this issue remains intermittent or ongoing, I would like furnished,
the various solutions I could try to get the fax software to work at all
times. This without any further problems or issues arising. The more
feedback that I receive, the better and, might save having to pay my
computer vendor to put things right.

NB. Please note. The problem did not exist at my contact's end otherwise I
would have got a 'Failed message' appearing on the Windows task bar.

Perhaps see if your modem has an updated driver - modem manu site, NOT
winupdate.

There is nothing wrong with my modem. I can connect to the Internet without
too much trouble. So until I hear from the contrary, I'm not even goint to
attempt to mess around with it. If I knew that my modem was outdated, I
would have, in the first instance, asked my computer vendor to install or
replace to an updated version.
