fax/voice modem

After being let down once again by commercial software suppliers, I'm
looking for a utility that will allow me to access stored
voicemail/faxes on my US Robotics modem, which I now use mainly as an
answerphone. Although it has been working perfectly for years, I have
had recently to reinstall the Supervoice software that came with it
only to find it won't work with XP (although why it should have done
for the past couple of years I don't know!

Any pointers gratefully received

Almost certainly nothing will be stored on your modem. It's the
Supervoice prog that looks after faxes and voicemails, which it then
stores as files on the hard drive. They will almost certainly be in sub-
folders in the Supervoice directory.

The problem is that by reinstalling Supervoice you might well have
zapped your faxes and messages. If you are lucky, then your reinstall
might have left the original directories intact. You need to work out
which directories and have a look.

If that fails and you have system restore active on your system, can you
get back to before your reinstall?

No, the modem is designed to work in independent mode, and will store
messages/faxes when the PC is off. The trouble is that now I can't
retrieve them.

The problem came with a reinstall of Windows xp so there are no restore
points
