Does anyone know how to setup MS fax to be used with ADSL modem ?
When I had normal modem I could use it but with ADSL I do not know how to
set it up and would like some help please.

Thank you

Rather than thinking of your ADSL modem as a modem, think of it as a network
card, connecting you to a giant network - the internet. You cannot fax with
a digital modem (like a DSL or broadband modem). You must use an analog
modem, just like you used to when you were on a dial up connection and it
must be connected to a plain old fashioned telephone socket.

If all you now have is the digital DSL modem, you can use an online fax
service like www.efax.com

Thanks for your exlanation Cari. I still don't get it. We have all this
technology and connection and still can not send a fax but can send an email
via ADSL.

Online service is too expensive as I only send once in a month and receive
maybe 2-3 faxes.

Thanks anyway

I'd suggest you go to somewhere like EBay and purchase an old analog modem.
Remember faxes only send/receive at 14.4kbps, so if you can pick up an old
33.6kpbs modem, it will be completely sufficient. Just connect it to your
phone line and you'll be faxing in no time.

I still have one PC (my notebook) with a modem in it, but the others just
have NICs for the DSL. Since I haven't received or sent a fax in two years,
we decided a month ago to junk the second phone line... it hardly seems
worth paying the $s every month for something we no longer have any use for.
