I would like to know how to run Fax with an ADSL (French broadband) modem, at
the moment it only seems to have the old dial up modem available on the fax
console, I have tried addin g a new modem but all it did was screw up. please
can any one tell me how to get fax running on broadband?

Unlike most dial-up modems, a broadband modem is not capable
of connecting to fax machines, so you cannot send or receive faxes
directly. Fax uses analog signals and broadband is based on digital.

In order to send and receives faxes, you'll need a conventional fax modem
with a live telephone line attached. You cannot use broadband unless you
use a web-base fax service, such as eFax:
http://www2.efax.com/en/efax/twa/page/homePage?rqcp=1

Or consider purchasing a conventional fax machine and connect it to your
phone line.

You can connect to the phone network over a broadband Internet connection
using IP telephony. For example, you can download Skype for free from
http://www.skype.com and pay only for "SkypeOut" minutes. I use it to call
England from the US all the time for less than 3c/minute.

However, Microsoft Fax is compatible only with dial-up modems.

Thanks for the information, that explains everything.

Actually, is what I said true?

Can Windows Fax support IP telephony software that includes a TAPI provider?
