fax feature problems

J

Jeanine

To send a fax I went to help, and followed their
instructions. Unfortunately, I don't get at all what they
say. I use OL 2000 Internet mail only.

File-> new fax. I get an error message. MS OL cannot use
Symantec Fax Starter edition for sending and receiving
faxes. This feature is not currently installed. Would you
like to install it now ? -> yes
-> installation complete. You will have to restart OL . I
do. I get another error message : Coding error [] should
not be referenced in Key [HKEYUSERS\]. That is a
directory, and I don't know enough to go there.

Then I get "OL has detected that you have WinFaxPro
installed in your computer. Winfax starter edition will
now be replaced by integration with the full featured
WinfaxPro". Sure I have Winfax Pro 10.

And I start back to the beginning with the same errors
messages. What is the relation between OL and Winfax ? You
don't talk about another program in your help.....

Thanks a lot for telling me what to do.

Start at the beginning.
Do you have WinFax Pro on your computer?
When did you first install Outlook 2000 IMO?
What operating system are you using?
What analog fax modem?

Ok, Yes, I have Winfax Pro version 10 installed for long.
I installed OL 2000 with Office a long time ago, but I
started to use it about a month ago. I am using Win 98 SE.
My modem is a USR 56K with voice.
I usually send faxes by Winfax, but I thought it would be
more interestring to send them by OL.
Thanks

You will need to configure WinFax to use Outlook. Go into the Program Setup
option and then configure Outlook integration.

Well no wonder. WinFax SE is a dysfunctional trial version of WinFax Pro.
There is no reason to install it when you already have the full program.
Just enable integration of WinFax Pro with Outlook.

I installed the integration with Outlook (2000) in winfax
Pro. They ask (in Winfax) if I want the Fax Starter
Edition. As you said it is disfunctional, I said no. Went
back to OL, I have the same problem. He asks me if I want
to install...... I say no, he answers the fax feature is
not installed.
More help, please ?
