I have zoomtown which is DSL, right now I have to unplug the phone line from the modem and plug it directly to my computer to use the fax console to fax or recieve a fax.

How can I fix this problem?

Get a splitter and run two phone lines to your computer, be
sure to have the DSL traps installed.

Run the new line without any devices such as caller-ID boxes
or recorders in series. Shouldn't cause any problems or
cost more than a few dollars for the wire and connectors.

DSL uses a transmission method which is quite incompatible with the
audio modulation used for FAX. You have to have a separate audio phone
connection, as for a handset, connected to an old style 'FAX modem' on
the computer to access FAX transmissions. What you need is a two way
adapter at the point your regular phone handset plugs in to the
telephone line, alongside the DSL, and a cable from that to the modem
connection of the computer.
