I have an HP Pavalion a420n.
Starting today everytime I boot XP, a dialog box pops up saying "Wait while
Windows configures fax".
Another box pops up saying "The feature you are trying to use in on network
resource that is unavailable" It also gives the location which it is trying
to search: c:\hp|tmp\src\aio\fax. I also get an Error 1706 "No valid source
could be found". That location is not on my hard drive. It appears to be
looking for the installation package fax.msi. I search of my hard drive did
not find that file.
I already have a fax icon in printers so I assumed that it was configured.
It is a program I have not tried to use and probably never will. I looked
in Add/Remove programs to see if there was anything there that might be
helpful but nothing was obvious to my limited knowledge.
I also have a time limited version of Office 2003 which I have not
installed. For some reason, I have the feeling that the fax installation my
be tied into that program.
Right now the only way I can boot is to alt-click-delete and close fax.
Thanks in advance for any help.
