I would like to know how to block unwanted web sites from
appearing in My Favorites. I have Windows XP and use
Microsoft Internet Explorer. Every time I sign onto my
computer via Earthlink I keep getting 4 porn sites that
show up in my favorites and right next to them it the
blue "E" icon for internet explorer. I keep deleting the
4 sites but they still appear. I really would like to
know how to block these type of sites from automaticly
appearing on my computer. You assistance in this matter
is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

First, be sure your antivirus software has the latest definitions and run a
virus scan.

Second, download, install and run Ad Aware:

Note: you should always be well backed up before running an application of
this type.

You've got adware or spyware or a hijacker.

You need the following:

A good firewall like Zone Alarm or the built in XP firewall
ZoneAlarm is available free at:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp

Ad-Aware 6.0 - for removing spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Spybot Search & Destroy - for removing spyware
http://www.safer-networking.org/

CWShredder - gets rid of page hijackers
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html

Google Toolbar - for blocking popups

http://toolbar.google.com/

Before running these, delete temporary internet files and internet history.

All this should keep your computer free of unwanted pests. Update and
run often!
