Greetings All-

Could anyone tell me what I could do to sort the Favorites menu into
alphabetical order? Is there a setting in group policies for this?

IE-specific newsgroup:

State your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3) in your
first post.

And why is there a need to post your Windows & IE versions? Should be able
to sort by name if on IE6, 7 or 8 unless a registry key holding the binary
value has become corrupt. In this case, it falls into a Windows XP newsgroup
not an IE one

Use the menu option Favorites (menu option as in
File-Edit-View-Favorites-Tools-Help)
and when a favorite flies out, rightclick on it and select "Sort by
name"
Don't use the Favorites panel. It must be the menu option or you may
also do it from Start-Favorites

The above may vary only slightly with IE versions so please post to
the IE group with detail of your version if necessary.
Please try the IE7/IE8 group.
The recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In a proper newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

If you must use a web interface:

I haven't found anything that will sort them however you can drag and drop
the items within the list to sort them one by one.

I hope you find a better way cause that might help me in future too.

Good Luck

You can also create a subfolder in the favorites menu and that seems to sort
the links alphabetically.

START | RUN | type REGEDIT & press ENTER

Navigae to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder

You will find the binary key in the right pane under the FAVORITES subkey

Always backup your registry before tampering with it: FILE menu | EXPORT |
type a name & click SAVE

Make sure you are here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder

Right-click the FAVORITES subkey & delete it

Close the registry editor & restart your computer

Go into your favourites, right-click and ssort by name

Please post back

OK, it seems that openging the favourites menu from the start menu as
SPAMCOP User suggested did what I needed it to for now, if need be I will
try the other registry suggestion.

Thank you all to those that replied...
