Favorites menu - my personal favorites are missing

I'm running Win XP on a AMD XP-M 2800+ w/512 mb RAM. The profile I use most
of the time is not the Administrator account but I do have access to it. I
recently opened up internet explorer to find that my personal favorites were
gone. I tried to save new favorites... when I tried, I found that they had
been placed in C:\Windows\Favorites (which had just been created a few days
ago), not under my profile favorites menu (which was still intact.)When I ran
IE as the Administrator's (while still in my profile, he had my favorites). I
switched accounts to the Admin, and opened up IE and there were his
favorites. I turned on "Personalized Favorites Menu" which had been
unchecked, but no change occured. I have no idea what to do to fix it. I'm
considering System Restore, but need help.

I looked around and found that
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_favorites.htm helped me by returning my IE
and Windows Explorer Favorites Menus, but when I try to run IE as another
user while in my account, that other user has my Favorites. How do I restore
his favorites while in my account (in his account they are fine). This has
never happened before. I'd appreciate any help I can get.
