Favorites file association removed

In My wife's profile, she had several favorites folders in her favorites
list, with various names on them. When we went to her profile today,
instead of folders windows had placed icons that you see when there is
no file association present! When you click on the name now, the
windows file association window comes up.

Can someone tell me how to get these folders back? Thanks!

More info needed here. Are you double-clicking the .URL (Internet shortcuts) or the folders? Also, is the problem seen system-wide?
