Recently my favorites have changed. Most of them have
disappeared, and what is left seems to be old favorites,
like a system restore has occurred to a period of a year
or so ago. When I "explore all users" to see what windows
explorer shows, my favorites are all still there. IE6.0
is simply not reading them. I have not changed anything,
nor have I installed anything recently. Very strange for
them to have been abducted. Very annoying. Pls help.
I have Win XPH and IE 6.0 ...
Any help is much appreciated,
Sincerely,
Karl.

I'd uncheck this option, if it's checked. Apply and okay your way out.
Rather than old favorites, though, the option chooses in favor of
those frequently used (in my case - and perhaps yours - that would
mean the same thing).

You probably have too many of them and the Index got
corrupted.

How do you manage them?
Keep less then 150 items in each folder.

If you have many in any folder move them to a newly
created folder see if you can get some of lost one back.

This should work in IE 6.

Examining my own listings by right-clicking the start button\ explore
all users, I see that my main favorites list is not in all users but
in the myname favorites. There's hardly anything in all users.

I don't have enough of a handle yet on XP to advise you, but this
might be one of those instances where what you see is dependent on the
way you're logged in, as the administrator or as a user.

(My inclination would be to zip the favorites folder in the myname
area so you can get it back if needed, delete the myname folder, then
copy the c:\documents and settings\all users favorites folder to
c:\documents and settings\myname. But that's me.)

One final thing: Before making any changes, do make a copy of the good
Favorites file. Not a bad idea to put it on a floppy.
