Hi all,

My mate has given me a box of spare PC parts to muck around with,

I have enough to make a fairly respectable PC, however...

The 7900GS 256MB shows artifacts on the post and windows loading screen.

I get intermittent lines vertically down the screen.

It installs the drivers properly but then on restart i get BSOD and a data dump, Vista Solution is different drivers but i've tried'em all.

So is it worth trying a BIOS flash on the card and if so how do i do this???

I've read a few posts on people doing it but none which detail the process.

Any ideas??? or is it in the bin time?

Hi ya m8
Can't quite remember where I read it, but I will keep looking..Anyway in the post I read, the person was having the same problems as you..The remody to his problem was to flash the GS bios with Gt bios..When I remeber where I read it again, i'll post the link..

Thanks Madx,

I think i've read some similar posts, but these guys were doing it to gain performance, i just wanna fix it.

If you find it great, but don't spend too much time as it was free and i ain't too bothered.

I've read that it maybe because the clocks are too high, but i can't get Riva tuner to pick it up or ntune?

Is it because i'm using it with Vista?

you using Rivatuner to OC? Try holding CTRL when your pc logs in. That should reset them to default. :)

Hi, V_R i'm trying to see what the clocks are at using Riva Tuner or Ntune, as i read a few posts saying that the kind of artifacts i'm seeing are more than likely a result of overclocking, so i want to see what they are set at or to drop them 20Mhz.

But Riva keeps saying that i need a newer version Riva but i've tried 3 different versions and none pick it up.

Will try the Ctrl trick.

Thanks

Is clearly screwed!

It will work in safe mode but then i can't use riva or ntune to check clocks but when i try to boot into windows properly BSOD.

It is now smashed to pieces in the bin, ahahahahahah, teach it to waste my time.

Oh well i still have a E4300, Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 and a 6600GT to play with.
