Which AV software are you trying to install? Depending on your answer, it
might be better for you to try another one.

Maybe if you told people what AV program and version you might get some
help.

First thing would be to contact the AV vendor and ask for support - it's
not a MS problem, it's an AV problem.

I am trying to install Trend PC-Cillan. I have it on two other computers,
and I've never had a problem with it before.

Do the other two computers have Vista installed? Are you using a version of
PC-Cillan that is compatible with Vista? Have you checked the Trend Micro
for updated versions, have you checked the support section at their website,
have you contacted their tech support?

Yes, the other two computers both have vista. I bought all 3 computers the
same day.
Try this, right click the PC-Cillan install file, select Run As
Administrator and see if you still have the issue. If yes, check the Event
Viewer in Administrative Tools under Control Panel to see if it points to
any other application. My guess is, it won't but it's worth a shot. If it
doesn't, you need to check the support area at the Trend Micro website,
www.trendmicro.com for troubleshooting and any other information that might
give a clue as to the cause and possible solution (Again, I'm assuming
because you didn't specifically say, this is a Vista compatible version of
PC-Cillan).

Other things to check, what is on this computer? Regardless of the fact it
was purchased at the same time, it is still a different computer. Did it
come with some preinstalled antivirus software that might have been bundled
with it? If yes, you might need to remove that before you can install
PC-Cillan. Have you checked to make sure the PC has all the latest driver
versions for all its hardware? Don't assume, because it's new it came with
the latest versions, this is a common error, you need to check either the PC
manufacturer's website, especially true if it’s a laptop or the manufacturer
websutes of the various hardware devices on the system.

Beyond that, I can only recommend, contacting Trend Micro tech support.
