fatal error

last night I loaded XP home edition and previously had
windows 98 second addtion loaded and during the process a
fatal error blue screen appeared. Know I did what the blue
screen say but no luck. Can any one help!

Reinstall Windows 98SE. When at the 98SE desktop, place the XP CD in the
drive, when the setup screen appears, select "Check System Compatibility."
This may give a clue as to what's causing the problem.
