Fatal error during installation of WIN XP Professional

i get an 'Fatal Error:Setup cannot continue,please contact.....(error:
538FF58h)at the end of windows update advisor during installation.My current
OS is Windows 98
..i have already formmated drive C and reinstall win98 then i try to install
winXP but
i still get the error message ---sometime the error code is slightly
different like (506FF58h.. can anyone tell me how to fix this??please?
