When starting the computer I get an error about the
FAT32. Sometimes the computer will run for a few minutes
then shuts down, other times it will not even get to
loading the desk top. It has said about going to the safe
mode and troubling shooting from there. Not sure what to
do.

Hi Jerry,

Have you checked the disk? Try opening a CMD prompt and run Chkdsk /R.
NOTE: This should require a reboot for Chkdsk to run.

Hi, yes I have. It tells me there is a problem and runs
the file check. It doesn't fix the problem. It started
because I was trying to network two computers. Like a DA
I ran a cable between two computers -direct wire.
Afterwards this started happening. Further message- " If
problem continues , disable or remove any newly installed
hardware or software(I have not installed anything!) .
Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
Check hard drive to make sure if it's properly configured
and terminated. "
Then it talks about going into safe mode to disbale
components. Do I need a start up disk?
Thanks,
Jerry

Connecting two computers with straight cable rather than a cross-over
cable will not harm the hardware. It just won't work!

It sounds as though your hard disk may be slightly dodgy.

Cheers,

Cliff
