FAT32 format for disk 47 gigabytes using XP Pro

I want to do a sort of "mirror" of a disk I use for a
system where I keep a lot of music files (both wav and
other format)and they get pretty big because I record a
lot of folk stuff where the session just goes on and on. I
wnated a sort of data repository hence the bigger disk.
Now I have a new drive and I want to do an image type copy
to it from a fat32 file system but XP wont let me format
the bigger disk as fat32. I think I did it using my old ME
system. Any suggestions?

To my knowledge FAT32 partitions cannot be bigger than 32 GB.

I would recommend to use NTFS which has several advantages
anyway.

Hi just download a copy of the windows ME boot disk from
www.bootdisk.com then boot using the disk you make. The
version of Fdisk included with ME allows you to format
much bigger partition than 98 and i believe XP is limited
to 30 or 40GB as the max for FAT32. If you are not used
to using FDISK then let me know. Alternatively you can
purchase powerquest Partition Magic which you might find
easier.
