FAT32 conversion to NTFS impact on upgrading to Windows XP

I currently am using Windows 2000 and am thinking about converting my files
system from FAT 32 to NTFS to save hard drive space. Will this have a
negative impact when I upgrade to Windows XP down the road?

I had WIN XP PRO installed on FAT32. When I converted from FAT32 to NTFS, the
conversion altered my admin password and my user account password so I could
not access the machine in anyway. This is the second machine that I had to
lose the data and reformat my hard drives for the same cause with different
bahviors. Lesson to be learned on this is to backup your data and prepare to
lose access to your machine upon converting from FAT32 to NTFS. This is a
conversion of death. However, if you have WIN2K and you do the conversion
during fresh installation of WIN XP, you may have a better luck.
