FAT card has files not listed in directory

My camera's memory card is linked as drive G: and has a FAT filesystem.
Due to an unknown error, the directory is missing, but the 42 image
files are still there, according to CHKDISK which reports that they are
there (see listing below). How can I reconstruct a directory to recover
the files?

G:\>chkdsk g:

Lo and behold, dir g: /a shows a hidden, system directory FOUND.000
containing most of the missing files. A few were corrupted but most
are intact. Thank you very much!
