Your solution about using my full email address as the username does *not*,
I repeat *NOT* work. It works fine for the OL test, but I thought it
strange I'd not received any mail all day. Then I started receiving a box
asking for my username and password. When I removed the alias, and left the
static, 20 messages flooded into my inbox (they were all spam, but that
isn't the point) . Added 'my.name@' back and the box was back. It looks as
though the server is refusing logon if I use the full address.

Do you use broadband or Anytime? If it's the latter, this may be the reason
it works for you.

Can you offer another solution? Thanks

Blessings,

Bast

The form of the username is completely up to the ISP. SBC Yahoo, for
example, requires (e-mail address removed) as the username, where other
providers require that the domain NOT be included. You should always follow
the rules your ISP requires, no matter which ISP you use.

Brian.Tillman is the name, smiths-aerospace.com is the domain.

I don't speak for Smiths, and Smiths doesn't speak for me.

What's that got to do with me?

Easy. Assuming your father's email is [email protected] and your's is
[email protected]
On your father's pc, set the pop username to "dad+smith12.freeserve.co.uk"
and on your's set it to "son+smith12.freeserve.co.uk" (without the quotes).
the only downside is that mail sent to "anythingelse other than son or
dad"@smith12.freeserve.co.uk will not be downloaded, but as most of this
will be spam then just use mailwasher once a month or so to clear it out.
