Fan will not shut down

I just upgraded my Sony Vaio desktop from Windows ME to
Windows XP and my system fan no longer shuts down. It
runs continuously. When I upgraded, I noticed there was
an application called "fan control" that needed to be
upgraded as well. I attempted to run the install for this
and it made it seem like some files were transferred over
but I don't think anything actually happened as it was
VERY quick. Any idea how to get the fan to go back to
self-regulating?

Have you gone to the Sony website and read their instructions for upgrading?
