I had a similar problem on a notebook computer. It turned out that the
fan opening was filled with dust. I was able to vacume it out. But if
you try it cover the opening of the drives with tape so no dust is
pulled in. There might be a safer way to fix this, so wait to see what
others say.

You sure Jackie isnn't talikng about HD spinning which ie is related to
hourglass?

Your comments covering opening with tape? Vent is cooling for processor and
ram. Computer would overheat. Would it not?

Hello Jackie,

press Control+Shift+Escape (Hold down Control and Shift, and press Escape)
to open the Task Manager. A window will pop with a list of processes running
on your laptop. Note the average use of the processor and report it here.

Fan always on usually means that laptops' internal sensors show CPU
temperature too high. This might be caused by high activity of the notebook
(perhaps there is some dead process that's eating all of the CPU).

Hope that helps ;)

click two times on the percentage column and the most "in use" processes
are at the top watch for a few seconds to see which come to the top).
