fan keeps running

hey. i have a sony vaio laptop, and when i got it, it never made any noise,
i.e. the fan was very quiet. now however, the fan makes a lot of noise
constantly. especially when i open up more programs, which i try not to do.
when this happens, the fan gets even noisier, and does not decrease even if i
try to close all open programs. please help! (p.s. im not THAT advanced when
it comes to computers... :-/)

are u sure its the fan?? says here in my book disconnect signal cable (40
pin ribbon)
disconnect power wire from hdd (not mother board) turn on pc if still noisey
its fan if noise stop its hdd or corrupt data on hdd. connect power wire only
to hdd if noisey its hdd if not its corrupt data DO NOT connect or disconect
wires from hdd while pc is pluged in ( or getting battery power) u will damge
mother board !
