Fan keeps running after shutdown

Since installing XP Pro SP2 and the updates on many machines, I have seen
that on some clone types the machine does not shut down properly. The
monitor will go black (never get the message that it's OK to turn off the
machine), the disk drive seems to shutdown but the the CPU fan keeps
running. I don't know if Windows has actually shut down or not. I have
waited up to 30 minutes to see if it is a cooling problem with the CPU but it
never turns off. This has happened on about 5 out of 50 machines. Anyone
else have a similiar problem.

Thanks Senthil,

That will work but I don't know if the OS has been completely shutdown yet.
I never get the message that says Windows has stopped.

Check for updated (read SP2 compatible) drivers and or BIOS updates at
the motherboard manufacturers website.

Not only the motherboard but also all the software packages running. Also
malware, and browser highjacks. Most SP@ problems come from not cleaning up
the system before install...
