For compatability reasons, i moved to windows 2000 when i purchased my new
computer. This was all good until i could not find any "family logon"
service, like was available in windows 98. Now, i'm a real tachie, so i know
all about the nooks and crannies of windows, but this has evaded my careful
research!

Microsoft Family logon, in windows 98, showed a list of users at logon
instead of making you type them. I know windows xp can do this, and i know
windows 98 and ME can do this... can windows 2000?? Seems logical, since
windows 2000 is between 2 operating systems that can do this.

This is useful to me, since i am the only user on the system, i like to have
different profiles for different uses. School, programming, music, games,
administration. So it is REALLY annoying to type a username every time i log
on...

Does anyone know of a way to make windows 2000 professional list all
available usernames instead of showing a username textbox?

The "Family Logon" feature was introduced into the "home"
type of Windows operating systems with Windows 98. It
was never part of the early professional flavours of Windows
such as Windows NT or Windows 2000.

Now that the two streams have merged, it is part of both
flavours of Windows XP. In Windows 2000, you will have
to type in your user name. If you think that the typing effort
is too great, abbreviate your accounts: S=School, P=Programming,
M=Music, G=Games, A=Administration.
