False Printer Jam Message On HPLJ4350N

Hello All,

I have a Laserjet 4350N which is constantly giving off a false paper
jam message. The problem is that the sensor behind the tray 1
assembly gets stuck in the position and will not pop up to trigger the
sensor. I can easily fix the problem by opening the printer up and
moving the sensor back into place but does anyone have any idea/
suggestions why this is happening? We're printing regular paper and
adhesive labels on it. Should I try to replace the sensor?

Again, any help would be appreciated.

In my experience this is nearly always caused by either something stopping the
free movement of the sensor flag or the flag is not sitting correctly. Often it
can be fixed using a can of dry compressed air, apply the air around the sensor
area. You will disturb some loose toner when you do this so you may get several
printed pages that are dirty after this operation. If that does not fix it you
may have to remove the tray 1 assembly and look at the sensor flag to see if it
is correctly located and that the spring is correctly seated (I can't remember
whether this has a spring or is gravity operated). If you don't have the

This refers to the 4200-4300 printer but they are almost identical to the 4350.
There are 10 parts to download and you will need to put them all into one
folder and run the first part to assemble the pdf.
