False Positive - AproposMedia

J

James C. Papp

With the latest updates and definitions, AntiSpyware incorrectly tags the
following dll as AproposMedia.

c:\program files\att\graphviz\bin\libexpat.dll

This dll is from AT&T's GraphViz tools which can be found here:

http://www.graphviz.org/

None of the other programs I've tried had this problem (Ad-aware, Spybot S&D
or Spy Sweeper).

Hi, let me to precise it a little bit. It have nothing to
do with graphviz.org, libexpat is an excellent xml parser
API, their home is http://www.libexpat.org/.
Namely false alert is raised on version 1.95.5, later
versions are ok.

Thanks in advance fixing it.

P.S. Although i don't like MS money factory, i have to
say that this is very good product, satisfying most of my
needs. Don't bothers, works and is very fast and
effective. Thanks, devteam! Looking for a final version.

P.P.S. Maybe one more prayer: not all detected threads
shows where exactly is threat found (file/reg ...).
Please be more specific while reporting. Thanks.

Thanks for the precise version numbers and commentary.

Is that version downloadable?

I don't know how they will resolve this one--if the same binary is involved
with the malware, I assume there's some way to make the detection depend on
finding more than this single binary.

I do find it a bit odd that you need to provide a slap in the face to the
Microsoft folks who read these groups, while you also praise the product.
There are actual human beings involved in the production of the code.
Additionally, you may have noticed their decision to make this available
without additional cost to licensed users. That decision doesn't bring them
any improvement in the bottom line.
