failed upgrade from home to professional edition

I upgraded one laptop, no problems at all. The second laptop seems to now be
stuck between home and professional. When I turn it on now, I have to make a
choice between home and professional. If I select Home, Home edition comes
but it is in actual fact Professional edtiion. When the desktop comes up, It
starts configuring windows photo gallery, it fails to configure it - it
states something like unhandled operation. From that point onward, I can not
shut down anymore.

If I choose the Windows professional option when I have turned on the
laptop, a message stating "error - contact your administrator" shows.

Heeelp!

Andrew, you constantly give this completely erroneous advice. You really
need to get on some medication or change the stuff you're on. Of course
you can upgrade from Home to Pro.

Bernie, I'm really not sure what happened but it sounds like the upgrade
didn't completely finish or there were errors. I'd do a clean install
on that laptop. It will be better that way.

You've repeated this nonsense here umpteen times. It's also been pointed out
to you umpteen times, by me and many others, that you are *absolutely* wrong
about it.

I, and others, have cited Microsoft pages proving you wrong, such as
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/upgrading/matrix.mspx

You continue to ignore corrections to your ignorant mistaken postings. Not
only do you not have the courtesy to apologize when someone proves you so
obviously wrong, but you post the same nonsense the next time the subject
comes up. You are clearly nothing but an arrant troll who delights in giving
people erroneous information in the hope that you can screw up their
systems.

Yes it can/has been "upgraded",however microsoft

Utter nonsense! They say no such thing, as anyone who looks at the page I
cited above can see. The upgrade from XP Home to Professional is in fact the
easiest and most likely successful of all possible upgrades, because so
little needs to be changed.

not to mention that the word you really wanted to use was 'there', not their
and, make up your mind, would ya;

Either you say it can, or can't be..get off the fence.
