Okay sportsfans I got a good one.

I have a windows 2000 network, and an XP workstation. On the server there is
an Excel sheet that has been there for months, There is a shortcut to that
sheet on the workstation. This morning the shortcut would not work. The user
permisions are correct, the user accound has full accesss to the file, and
the folder it resides in, I tried deletng the shortcut and making a new one,
still failed. I go into the shortcut properties ask it to find the target and
if finds the sheet. I can open the sheet if I open Excel first but not the
short cut. This really wouldnt be an issue except that the user for this
sheet and station is computer iliterate. Any ideas people?

What happens if you create a new shortcut with this command:

excel.exe /r \\server\share\file.xls

I will give it a shot, but its wierd, the shortcuts to that file work on
other stations, and when I loged in on that station with the domains
administration account and created a shortcut it worked too.

yea I tried that, same thing. Its only excel files, and it only with that
user account, I tied that same user account on a different computer, and it
did it again, I think its something in the personal settings. Anyone ever run
into this befoe?
