Failed installation

Installing Outlook 2003 (2003 Suites) as upgrade to
Windows XP system. After installation, startup gives me
message that Outlook failed to open properly last time
(there was no first time!), and do I want to open in safe
mode. I do that and it just hangs. There are two Outlook
icons in the icon tray at bottom of screen. I have
removed and reinstalled twice. Same problem. Can't ask
Microsoft for online help because I can't get to PID info.
Any suggestions?

Office2003 and WinXP are completely seperate items, so is this a new install
of Office or an OfficeXP upgrade?
 
Anew install of Office replacing Outlook 2002 that came
with my Sony Vaio.
