failed attachments

Folks:


I am using Outlook Express on windows XP home platform with Office 2000.

Recently, I noticed that every time I attempt to send an attachment, my
antivirus software says "protocol error" and the attachment never goes
through.


* Appreciate any light on this issue ?
* Is there some way to configure this email application to NOT send
attachments ?
* Can antiVirus software prevent all attachments from being sent ?

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
family.
