Hello Claudio,

Have you tried going to Windows Update and checking for available updates?
Can you go to Windows Update, do an Express (Get high-priority updates)
scan, and apply all offered updªtes
http://update.microsoft.com

Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs? There are many
pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and signature update
with windows defender will fail until you hªve these files.

Just out of interest. Is this a Pc tablet?

Could you supply some information on what your OS is, firewall, anti-virus,
other RTP programs, browser, etc?

Are you on a large, managed network, where access to AutoUpdate is
restricted? Is there a WSUS server on the network?

What build of Windows Defender v. are you on--see the top version number in
Help, about... Engine v. Definition v.

The common software is Mcafee ViruScan Enterprise 8.00.. with FW and without

In my personal machine, I have all available patches installed ( Windows XP

It is not a PC Tablet..

Antivirus - Mcafee VirusScan Entreprise 8.00
FW - Zone Alarm Professional..

Hi Claudio,

I'd recommend re-downloading, and saving to a known location--like the
desktop.
After the download is complete, disable real-time protection by your
antivirus for long enough to do the installation. Also disable any RTP
programs in the system tray

I hope this post is helpful, let us know how it works ºut.
