Fail to ping local computer

My notebook fails to ping local host (itself) from Comand line but it can
ping 127.0.0.1, gateway, and remote host. My notebook can also connect to
the Internet via the gateway router. My notebook has 3 network devices
installed: Ethenet card, Wireless network controller, and 1394 adapter. How
can I make my notebook ping itself?
