Fading from 1 bullet point to another

Is there a quick way to go from one bullet point to the next, fading the
previous bullet. I have been coppying the slide and manually changing the
color of the text of the previous slide. Some slides have 5 bullet points

Let's say you have 5 bullets and your using PowerPoint 2002/2003:

Highlight the text
Select Slide Show > Custom Animation
In the Custom Animation Task Pane click Add Effect. Select Fade
Select all the resulting "animations" within the task pane. Select On Click
Select the top 4 resulting "animations" within the task pane.
In the drop down menu, choose Effects Options
Then in the After Animation options, select the color to which you want your
text to change
