I have a Hewlett Packard with win xp. I would like to do a factory reset so It can be sold. How do I do it?
Thanks for any help. Ctwistedpair.

The only way is to format the drive and re-install windows using the original windows CD that came with your PC.

If you boot up with this CD in the drive, it should prompt you to re-install windows (just make sure to select format when prompted).

HP Pavilion computers have a hidden partition which contains the files necessary to restore your PC to its original factory condition.

Witch HP do you have?

Ok, you should have a Floppy/CD 'Restore' disk ... pop it into the drive and start-up the laptop.

It should give you the option to set it back to factory settings.

unfortunately, no cd's were supplied with the laptop. I guess i'll have to buy one from HP.
Ask for a "replacement" for Free. ;)
