F10...system recovery

can this function replace a pc's 'system restore' cd's in case of a system
crash?...if not what's it's purpose?...thanks

From what I understand, F10 initiates a menu of restore options that are
provided by the OEM ((original equipment manufacturer)). This was added by
OEM. It's not present on generic XP setups (those that were created with
generic OEM or retail CDs).

Since this OEM added feature would have to jump into action before Windows
loads, there is no way within the Windows interface to change the
function/menu of that key.

And is mainly (HP/Compaq for example) the start point for scrubbing off
everything else on the hard disk and putting the machine back to
ex-factory state
