f1 2000 championship season

I see from the posts that many of you are able to make this game work
in xppro, what's the secret?
Here's my deal the game starts I go through the menu options ok, then
hit the race button, the track starts loading and kicks me to the
desktop with no errors and no event viewer entries
My specs:
radeon 8500
intel d845gbv
onboard soundmax audio
logitech wingman formula force wheel (old good one)
dx 9
latest video and mobo drivers

things I have tried:
clean boot
emptied temp folders
compatibility mode for 98 and win2k
it works in software mode but not direct 3d mode
and yes my video card and one usb controller share irq 16 can't be
changed

I'd suggest you pay a visit to the public (and free) rec.autos.simulators
newsgroup. That's one of the most active racing newsgroup areas around, and
they have lots of discussions, links to game-specific web sites and updates
(plus mods) for the games. Personally, I only had to install the game
(haven't run it in about a year), did some updates and it ran.

Oh, and don't worry about the devices being on the same IRQ. Like Windows
2000, XP "stacks" the devices. I've got six different ones on IRQ 11 alone.
