F disk and format command in xp help

please how does one use the F disk and formating commands on a machine
running XP home.

I refering to a machine that came with propriety package.
HP notebook, that came with a 4 disk restore set.

I don't think fdisk is available in XP.
Format can be used in a CMD box.

What are you trying to do?

What are you trying to do? If you want to load another 98/Me and get rid of
XP, see the link below.
Be warned, that if you do, you will not get support from HP until the system
is restored to the original shipped state.

With fdisk, you delete the non-dos partition if XP is using the NTFS file
system.

I was just realy curious because I know theres no dos in xp that I can get
to without windows running. and no command prompt.

Yes I know that HP wouldn't give support if I did this, but the warranty is
timed out.

I am trying to learn more about commands.

Fdisk and Format have been replaced by 'Disk Management' tool which is
a GUI rather than text based. See Computer Management in
Administrative Tools.
