EXTREMELY Slow Shutdown

Hi:

When I click on "start\Turn off computer", I get an hour glass that will
last as long as 7 minutes before I get the dialogue box to "Switch User",
"Turn Off", "Retart" my computer. When I click on "restart" it takes my
system another 5 minutes to restart. While it is doing this the only thing I
see is the hour glass. I have service pack 2 installed. I've used spy
sweeper, spy blaster, smitrem, spy bot as well as my antivirus and online
antivirus scanners and nothing seems to work. Could someone shed some light
on what could be causing this and possible fixes?
