Extremely slow processing

My Excel 2007 spreadsheet has 900,000 rows and 8 columns. All of the
cells contain data (no formulas).

It takes FOREVER (i.e., hours) to open the worksheet, to insert a
column, to delete rows, etc)?

What do I need to do to resolve this problem?

I tried to reproduce your problem. In a new worksheet I selected
A1:H900000, typed 1234, and pressed Ctrl-Enter. That entered data in the
selected range so now we're in about the same place per your description.
Inserting a column or row, etc., takes about a second.

If you try the same thing what do you find? If it's the same as me than I
guess you should try to find what's different between your two sheets.
