Extremely Slow Bootup

Ever since I installed kb828028 bootup has been extremely slow. Finally looking through the event log I noticed that after the install of the patch I received a IO_ERR_BAD_BLOCK error on my hard drive. I am no longer reciever disk error but am getting a disk warning (event 51) during the bootup and seems to deal with paging. Once the boot process is done the performance seems to be ok and no errors are being logged.

Does anybody have any ideas on how how to fix this? I ran the defrag process but did nothing for this. Is there a similar process in XP to the scandisk command in dos. This seems more like a hard disk problem than something with kb828028 but am contemplating removing the patch as a next step and see if that clears it up.

Hey Lance, Thanks for the info. I completely forgot about check disk and that cleared up my problem! Turned out to be a bad cluster in a .dll from the lastest MS patch.
