I've posted this in another forum without too many leads.
I'm running XP home XP2 fully patched, and IE7. I've been quite happy with
IE7.
My problem stems from xp's native compressed files extractor. I had a very
recent install of xp fully patched, and the extract function worked in a
matter of seconds--it didn't matter if the zip file was 10kb, or 5 MB, both
extractions were extrememly fast. My "extraction" function now takes one to
two minutes to finish extracting files--much slower than in the past.
I have d/l all critical updates including .NET framework, but I don't know
if that has any bearing on things.
My right-click context menus appear instantly, it's just "extract" that's
slow as molasses.
Any ideas ladies/gentlemen?
Many IT,
