can some one tell me how to extract the one driver without installing the
whole thing.
i clicked on open, but it wants to install the software, and i just want to
open it and extract one file from within it.

A "driver" can consist of MANY files. Unless the provider has a
driver-only download, you're stuck getting their entire package. Of
course, it's pretty hard to discuss UNNAMED software since everything is
purely guessing.

If it's actually a self-extracting zipped file you may open it and
extract the individual files with winzip or the like.

i want a bin file out of the scanner installation exe.
i have another box set up that needs the bin from the drivers from the
installation
exe file. if that makes sense to you?
not sure how to ask this question.
if i had the right disk(which i don't) i could just get it from there.
i do have one disk cept it has the wrong bin.
just put that disk in and clicked on open and it showed me the files in
it.
and i was able to do a drop and drag of the bin to my desktop.
i went to a site and all they had were the exe downloads.
don't know how to go about getting the bin from it.
thanks

try this..

Clear out your default TEMP folder first (C:\Documents and Settings\Use
Name\Local Settings\Temp) You'll have to unhide it with
Explorer=Tools=Folder Options=View. Run the installation exe, then open the
TEMP folder and find the file.

WINRAR will open 'exe' files to allow access to the individual components.
